Sephora VIB 500 Pt Gift: Laura Mercier

I usually don’t get Sephora 500 pt gifts but this one looked good and I like Laura Mercier so it was worth the points.

image

It’s a nice set with a bronze powder,  lipgloss,  primer,  oil,  and setting powder.  Not bad.

image

What I like about this set is that it’s a full face look and I love full face looks in travel sized items cause they are great for traveling on the go and not having to bring a ton of makeup.

image

I decided to create a look using only these items with my own mascara.

image

The outcome was pretty nice! Such a subtle look with a nice glow. I used the oil first and after a few minutes I applied the primer,  my own concealer under my eyes then baked with the setting powder. After a about 20 minutes I applied my Diorskin foundation in 070 and used the bronze powder and lipgloss.

I love the look.

Kudos!

DUPE ALERT: Too Faced x Milani

I love a good dupe because it shows us make up lovers the true comparisons and values of our products that we covet. I know that the $20 I pay for one lip item and the $6 I pay for another are mostly only similar in a few ingredients and manufacturer but I still buy the items cause I love makeup. With that said here are two items that could be fraternal twins!

wp-1463682687504.jpg

I couldn’t wait for the Too Faced Melted Matte liquid lipsticks to come out BUT I also had been searching and stalking my local Wal-Mart for the Milani Amore Matte Lip Cremes.

I purchased the Too Faced online via Sephora during the VIB Rouge sale and chose the color Naughty By Nature strictly for nostalgic reasons and turns out, it’s a beautiful brown that definitely reminds me of my TLC/Naughty By Nature, baggy pants, waterfall pony-tail wearing days! Then a few weeks later – okay maybe about a couple of days later I ended up in Wal-Mart for something and found myself in the Milani lip aisle and what did I see? The sought after Milani Lip Cremes! I wanted to get them all but that wouldn’t have been a smart move with my budget so I only picked up one; a brown. Lately liquid lipsticks in bright bold colors look clownish on me so I lean towards darker more subdued colors for those so they don’t look pasted on my face but imagine the shock when I got home to see the similarities of these two!

wp-1463682679228.jpg

I mean, COME ON!! Talk about twinning!

And if you are seeing what I see then yes, the Milani goes on a hell of a lot smoother for $7 than the Melted for $21. The ONLY differences I could find from these two were the applications, other than that, they are sister-wives!

I like them both but I love the wear of the Milani better because as it is matte and long wearing, it’s not hard and tight on the lips but does fade a bit just not a lot. The Melted goes on like a mud mask and to get it off is like pulling teeth, even with my Almay super oily EYE MAKEUP remover pads.

Considering the price difference and the fact that each swipe of the other colors of Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick (minus Evil Twin cause that’s at home with me), I will purchase the full set of the Milani’s. To me they are far more worth it.

Let me know what you think if you own them!

Kudos!

BiTE Beauty – Green With Envy

image

BiTE is in my top five of overall best lipsticks so it was no surprise that the Amuse Bouche line would be so damn gorgeous!!

After seeing swatches on Temptalia,  I knew I had to swatch these for myself and they all rocked but KALE had my name.

Squid Ink and Black Truffle and Whiskey were all also great colors but I own others like them however I didn’t own a green and this isn’t just ANY GREEN!  It’s an uber rich, dark forrest, velvet kings cape type of green.

BiTEs formula is VERY VERY creamy and there will be some messy mouth with spreading if you don’t use a liner however i didn’t use a liner and this smeared just a tiny bit by the end of my day.

I thought,  “Where am i going to wear this?” but it was a definite wear to my weekend job and once I put it on,  I knew it could be worn anywear I’d wear my dark burgundys or Too Faved Melted liquid lipstick in Evil Twin…. This color is EVERYTHING for so many of you from pale to dark chocolate!

It’s so sexy… I want to wear it everyday!

image

The only con is the slight and light vanilla scent that fades,  thankfully because i can’t do heavily scented makeup.

Let me know what your thoughts are is you picked up this new line from BiTE.

Kudos

DUPE Alert: Melt Cosmetics

image

Sorry for the hiatus…. But I’m back and with juicy good makeup.

I’m so happy with Maybellines Bold lipstick line and I picked up the color Sapphire Siren and by chance compared it to Melt Cosmetics DGAF and boom… This happened!!!

The similarities are insanely close with the only difference being that Melt is matte and Maybelline is not however,  Melt is $19 and Maybelline is $5.99 (depending on where you go,  you know these drug stores be hiking costs and shit) but for a blue lipstick,  a color not many of us can wear everyday just cause,  it’s a great dupe and price!!

If you’ve picked up these new Maybelline Bold’s what do you think?

Sephora Favorites: Paint It Pink

I love when Sephora bring out the FAVORITES!!!

wp-1458181060944.jpg

These sets have become some of my favorites except for the last Sephora favorites: Give Me More Lip – Such a disappointment in the nude category for my dark skin but nevertheless this comes today to make me happy.

Any who lets carry on to the product….it’s a glorious $40 and comes with a full-sized Laura Mercier which to me was the selling point because those are about $27 a piece!

wp-1458181189463.jpg

Neatly Packed!

wp-1458181132765.jpg

It literally is, minus a liner, a full-faced look which I think is great for an on-the-go look to have with travel sized items.

wp-1458181086695.jpg

I adore the color scheme but am a bit worried how it will look on my dark skin. I off the top, do not like the Make Up Forever Plexi Gloss and haven’t tried the other brand items except the lipstick.

I didn’t add the mini beauty blender in the pic because it’s BLAH, it’s mini, lighter weight than I’d prefer and again, nice for traveling and considering I’m going to NY the first week of April, I will take it and this entire look with me.

wp-1458181154763.jpg

I was very excited to try Becca because it’s a brand I haven’t tried before.

I love the hardware, very sturdy and sleek and has a tiny mirror too. This is labeled as a “Shimmering Skin Perfector” and it goes on really nice. I appreciate the gorgeous glow it produces on my skin.

wp-1458181143032.jpg

Urban Decay

Such an adorable package yet it’s a hard plastic versus the Becca which is of the same harder material made from the regular sized. I love the see through top. I have a few UD palettes and some are hit or miss for me so I am expecting a hit or miss experience. The color is a bit too shimmery for me but it can be a nice accent color to work with.

wp-1458181165637.jpg

The BLUSH

This is some serious blush that they call 12 hour but if you will notice, this swatch remains on my finger because it would not rub off onto my hand. I had to rub kind of vigorously with my finger to get in onto my cheek but it produced a wonderful coral color.

wp-1458181123579.jpg

Make Up Forever and Laura Mercier

I like MUFE lipsticks but this thick gooey Plexi Gloss they created needs to hit the drawing board and chemistry sets again. This color is tolerable because it’s light and I see why they paired it with the Mercier; for a little gloss effect.

I have two mini Laura Mercier lipsticks in the color Milky Way and I like them but I cannot and have not yet – in the 100 or so lipsticks and glosses I own – pay for more than $24 (BiTE) for one and these are $27 and some tax so getting this in this set was a nice bonus! The color is like a few pinks I own. The formula is nice and smooth but not matte yet long lasting which is great. I wish her tubes had more personality, the engraved name on the tube is hidden and I don’t know, I’d prefer a pretty tube is all otherwise it’s a darn good lipstick.

wp-1458181107885.jpg

Benefit is becoming my favorite mascara. I have really curly and thin lashes and Benefit thus far has been the only mascara that gives them a thickened appearance and yet doesn’t clunk them. I also adore their mascara wands which are nice and round.

The Deborah Lippman nail polish is basically a clear – no it’s a clear but who doesn’t like a clear polish. I’d hate to pay the price for this to only be clear though.

wp-1458181086695.jpg

So there you have it folks….

I used some points to snag a BiTE Beauty mini lipstick of the Amuse Boushe colors they have going on.

wp-1458181182081.jpg

As much as I love BiTE their problem is that their colors all look the same. This Radish is the same as my favorite color Palamino, okay maybe it’s a smidge darker but still on the same wavelength. I won’t be purchasing this particular color in the fll size but I love this tiny – and I do mean TINY deluxe sample.

Okie doke, Toodles Ladies and Gents. I am off to the land of sheep.

Until Next time. . . .

Kudos!

Besame

wp-1448470631656.jpg

I had been wanting to try this lipstick for a while since I seen it on Sephora’s website so when I finally saw it in store in this little gift set with the matches I grabbed it for $23.00

I’ll make this short and sweet. . .

PROS:

No Scent

Different Shape helps to apply the lipstick better – I’d like all my lipsticks to come shaped like this

wp-1448470486966.jpg

The packaging is a nice cool vintage gold color which goes well with the theme the creator wanted to set for this line.

wp-1448470749866.jpg

I have not used the match book sticks yet and don’t know if I will, they seem kind of odd but it’s a cool idea and I’m keeping them for a ‘just-in-case’ kind of day.

The wear isn’t long lasting nor drying nor moisturizing. It’s kind of Maybelline with the wear but a bit higher on the scale.

The color is great! It took me ages to decide on a color which is why I hadn’t brought it then I saw the set and said, “What the hell, get this one”

wp-1448470779607.jpg

It’s a very nice red-orange.

VERDICT:

It’s worth trying out for the shape of the lipstick, the packaging and the colors are cool but I wouldn’t buy another knowing how little lasting power they have.

Kudos

SEPHORA – Give Me More Lip 2015

wpid-wp-1444659761038.jpg

LAST YEAR, I missed picking up the Give Me More Lip set because I didn’t fancy it, there was something about it that I just didn’t want but THIS YEAR I picked it up and LOVE IT!

wpid-wp-1444660426901.jpg

L to R: Bite, Clinique, Urban Decay (Full Size), Laura Mercier, Tarte, Buxom x2, YSL, Too Faced Melted, Sugar, Lanc√īme, Kat Von D, Nars (Full Size), Ciate (Full Size), and Smashbox (Full Size)

This set has a nice variety of colors and products to try if you have been wanting to try a brand or two out. I was happy to be able to try YSL, Ciate, Urban Decay, and Laura Mercier. This set is $59 at Sephora and when you look at the price of the full sized lipsticks, you are getting a good value. The Nars is $32, Urban Decay $22, Ciate $19, and Smashbox $20 so right there you are getting a good value for a set that includes 4 full sized lipsticks!

Now let’s get to the product!

wpid-wp-1444659982209.jpg

Laura Mercier – I have wanted to try this brand for a while but something has always swayed me away. This color is Milky Way and although with the flash in this pic it looks a bit bright but it’s actually a very subdued and almost sheer taupe that’s gorgeous and would look with or without a liner.

I’m a Buxom fan! I don’t care for the tingle on the lips much but my favorite color is Dolly. These are very sheer but the subtle color comes through just right when you want a relaxed natural look with just a tinch of sparkle!

wpid-wp-1444659897509.jpg

I fancy buxom lip glosses. I could care less for the tingle feeling but these are nice on those natural makeup days when you want just a sparkle and honestly the travel sizes are perfect. I don’t always like to carry around big tubes of lip gloss so half sizes are way better!

wpid-wp-1444659890148.jpg

This Berry Blast is a nice shade of sheer berry. My favorite Buxom is the color Dolly, it’s just the perfect color of gloss period! They are not super sticky nor too thick. The application is smooth and easy.

wpid-wp-1444659880463.jpgThese two are the most pointless of the bunch! I thought the Clinique stick would have some color because in the tube it looks pink but it’s clear on me however I seen a lighter skin swatch and it showed some color. I have a chubby Clinique pencil in a bright fuchsia that shows perfect on me so I was disappointed by this one. The Tarte is clear, the formula is nice and soft and it adds a pretty shine as you can see but I wish they would have put a color one in instead of clear yet it’s moisturizing.

I am not the biggest Sugar fan especially in these tiny sizes because they melt and break quite easily.

wpid-wp-1444659869364.jpg

The formula is very nice and smooth. Moisturizing. I cannot understand for the life of me why someone would pay so much for this product, the full size is $22.50 and although it feels nice, my baby lips works just the same for me. I enjoy the travel sizes but can’t see myself ever buying a full size.

Next Up is Too Faced Melted in Peony.

wpid-wp-1444659861041.jpg

I own a full size of this in the darker pink color which I think may actually be Berry Red. These have a felt tip applicator meltedwhich some have said sucks but I really like the way this tip spreads the product on the lips. In the time that I have my dark pink color (9 months), I have had to clean the applicator once and I did so by taking the applicator off and running hot water through it to remove any clogged openings and it works fine. The formula is very opaque. I put full coverage on in this pic to show you how opaque it is but even when wearing my pink color I only put on one lip then blot the two together. This is long lasting but not fully transfer proof yet not super messy or creamy. I will wear this color with a liner or even mix it with the color I already own for a cute ombre effect!

I didn't know this was Lanc√īme until reading the back of the box

I didn’t know this was Lanc√īme until reading the back of the box

I had no idea what to expect with this product and it’s just alright. Would I pay $23.50 for a full size which looks more like a taller travel size? NO. It’s not too thick and as you can see not too pigmented either but I was surprised by the color that I got considering an arm swatch didn’t look so good. Overall the product itself isn’t bad but I can’t imagine other colors having pigment with such a sheer formula.

wpid-wp-1444659847497.jpgBeautiful COLOR!!

I was excited for this one because I really wanted to try this brand (I’m wearing this today (10/11/15) at work and it’s holding it pretty well these 3 hours in through my bowl of oatmeal and cup of coffee). This formula is SOOOO CREAMY which is also it’s con though. You have to have a bit of finesse when applying this so it doesn’t smear everywhere. It’s very rich and opaque. I will definitely be purchasing a full size now that I know how great this formula is. So far this is a long wearing, non drying formula that I like. There is kind of scent that smells like perfume but it’s subtle and fancy.

Next is BiTE Beauty

wpid-wp-1444659839740.jpg

I am a fan of Bite and own quite a few of the double sided $14 lipsticks and a full sized in Palamino. This color was surprisingly cute and neutral. I have a Smashbox lipstick in my favorite color of cognac which is way lighter compared to this cognac so that was interesting to see the different cognacs. There is no liner needed for this cutie. She’s very pigmented and is a great fall color. BiTE products are all so smooth on application and although they are very creamy, they are not messy and actually have great staying power.

Who doesn’t Love a KAT VON D lippie?

wpid-wp-1444659830944.jpg

I went looking for this color a long time ago and it was sold out every where so instead I purchased the color Motorhead which is a more burgundy dark color than this is although they are quite similar so I was excited to see this color in the pack. It’s a perfect year round color if you’re like me who wears dark lips whenever the mood strikes regardless of the season.

NEXT UP is NARS . . . .

I have a bone to pick with NARS! Why are their lipsticks so small? For $30+ I’d expect a little more product and that is something that has kept me from buying the lipstick because I do not feel you get enough of the product compared to other, cheaper, and sometimes better lipstick. But I’ll talk about that in a second. . . in this set was

wpid-wp-1444659823543.jpgThis color is sexy! I am very impressed with NARS formula on this one (a previous one I received as a gift was sheer so I returned it and got two lipsticks of a different brand). It’s soft, smooth, moisturizing and as you see it has a nice pigment. Nothing negative about this product except the price for a full size which is more like a half size to me.

For example, I compared a few other lipstick brands to this one in size:

wpid-wp-1444659815695.jpgAs you can see, Smashbox is the biggest and cost $20 per tube, next is NARS coming in next at $30 then Mac which has been used so it would be about the size of Smashbox and then Bite which is actually about the size as NARS but I am ok buying that because it’s about $6 cheaper. I just wish these companies would stop going overboard with these prices on lipsticks because we all know that cost price and the sale price are dramatically <said with a serious eye roll> different!! But oh well right. . .we are slaves to beauty. . .on to the next one. . .

wpid-wp-1444659806363.jpgSmashbox is one of my favorite brands. I love the variety of colors they have , the pigments and even the sleek black square tube (Like NARS). This color is a bit bright on me without a liner but I have a nice magenta liner that would give this bad boy some fierceness! It’s matte so it’s a bit drying but nothing Lorac like <insert lip purse and eye roll *shade>

Next Up is URBAN DECAY . . .

wpid-wp-1444619926751.jpg

This photo makes the lipstick look more bold than it is, it was really subdued on me and as a first time user of this brand of lipstick it was very smooth, like the YSL smooth so almost messy but not quite. Great pigment and coverage. I wore this work the day before yesterday and didn’t need a liner but wore one anyway and this was just a great product all day. Total moisturizing on the lips all day. I can see myself buying more of these as they felt more like a glorified gloss but I didn’t mind that.

And Last but not least the beauty I am wearing today (10/13/15). . . . CIATE

wpid-wp-1444659797714.jpgThis is a BRIGHT orange, really bright, super bright but I like it!! This is my first time trying Ciate and this formula is thick on application – not sticky think but a lot comes out on the applicator thick so a little goes a really looooooong way!

It’s long wearing, a bit drying, not shiny, and scent free. I had to exfoliate my lips good this morning and reapply because my first try was creasy and flakey on my morning lips. I can see myself picking up more colors because I love bright and bold lip wear however I can see this being too bright for some.

Today I applied a sienna lip liner then applied to the inner area of my bottom lip then blotted/rubbed lips together to achieve a nice subtle but bold orange.

Me today at work wearing the Ciate!

Me today at work wearing the Ciate!

That’s all the product folks – whew!! A lot to take in now the following photos are swatches!

wpid-wp-1444665863732.jpg

Folks listen here, getting this stuff out of this little plastic thing was hell, I actually hurt one of my fingers trying to dig it out!

KAT VON D – Mi Vida Loca Remix Lipstick Set

wpid-wp-1442931774854.jpg

This little beauty arrived yesterday and I was uber hyped to get it in and swatch it for you guys. I am not an eye shadow person so I will not be picking up her matching eye shadow set but it looks very pretty too!!

This set includes 7 mini lipsticks and one full limited edition lipstick in¬†an adorable white studded tube! I haven’t gotten many of her new studded lipsticks, the last Kat Von D lipstick I have was in the gold smooth tube and one of her liquid lipsticks in the fabulous color ‘outlaw’ so I was excited to be able to try 8 colors for $45!

OK enough of the hub-bub let’s get to the product:

All the beautiful colors

All the beautiful colors

Looking at the photo you can see how bright the colors look with a flash but how dim they are without and as I were hoping they’d be brighter, they are in fact quite dim yet still full¬†of pigment, especially on my dark skin.

These are with two swipes per color

These are with two swipes per color

Each Color From Left To Right:

GOLD BLOODED – This has sparkles in it and feels gritty on the lips so AT FIRST I was thrown off by that because I don’t like glitter lipstick or the feeling of it on my lips. However this color proved to be worth that feeling. Now the gritty feeling never went away and blotting will show blotches but it’s such a vibrant red/orange with a hint of gold undertones that you can’t help but love it. It stayed on for about an hour as it’s the last one I swatched and it did very good with holding up the color.

wpid-wp-1442931916642.jpg

I have two lipsticks this color, one being Kat Von D’s but this one has a certain undertone to it that screams fire!!

NEXT UP:

HALO – folks I didn’t think an orange could be so effing fantastic but this one is all that and everything else included!! *I am actually wearing it at work today! This is really a nice opaque but light orange. It’s soft but bold and goes on smooth but be sure to have exfoliated lips or get this caught up in all of your creases! This is my favorite out of the bunch!

Check the gold undertone in this beauty and that POW, I'm sexy in my orange lipstick feel!

Check the gold undertone in this beauty and that POW, I’m sexy in my orange lipstick feel!

NEXT UP:

NaYEON –¬†I have no idea what the name of this means but it is the same name as a popular Korean singer and LPGA player. This looks black but it’s really a dark silver with sparkles and that gritty feeling again (I am not a fan of this feeling) This is the one color I cannot wear to my M-F job but can and will rock at my Sunday job even so, this is my least favorite color.

It did take multiple swipes to achieve such a dark hue and even then the middle of my lips were splotchy a bit

It did take multiple swipes to achieve such a dark hue and even then the middle of my lips were splotchy a bit

NEXT UP:

COVEN – As a MN Vikings fan I love all things purple especially a good purple lipstick I can wear on game days. Coven is a light lavender and feels a bit stiff to apply. It’s very pigmented and I believe it will require a liner for almost anyone who wears it so it doesn’t wash them out. I’d most likely apply this only to one lip them blot/rub the rest onto the other lip. It’s far too opaque for my skin tone.

A darker purple liner would be perfecto

A darker purple liner would be perfecto

NEXT UP:

SEXER – Dare I say that I was expecting this pink to pop off of my lips like a fairy but it was kind of dark and subdued.¬† A more winter pink for sure but I wanted more pank! It is opaque enough and gives a full and rich color but not as bold yet that’s ok.

wpid-wp-1442888714791.jpg

NEXT UP:

WOLVESMOUTH – Kat Von D wins for best effing names of lipsticks EVER!! I thought this would be my favorite color right out the box but it looks like three other colors I have and falls to the bottom on that list. It’s no doubt a gorgeous color; full, rich, creamy, and all that goodness but it’s nothing special nor new. It’s not berry which is in for the season yet it’s a medium plum – again I have dark skin so on me it doesn’t stand out. This would be my 2nd least favorite.

It's a rich plum

It’s a rich plum

NEXT UP:

BACHELORETTE – This next to Wolvesmouth and Sexer is like their big sister. She’s such a cute and fun pink and when you view the pic above you can see how it’s kind of a darker pink than¬†Sexer but on me it shows brighter than Sexer which was unexpected but very much appreciated!

It's what I thought Sexer would be

It’s what I thought Sexer would be

FINALLY:

NOBLE – It’s nude and nudes are not the easiest lipsticks to work with because certain levels of nude don’t look good on everyone. I need darker nudes and this one is very opaque; a bit too much for me. I will wear this this week and apply a liner and a darker nude gloss on top to see what I come out with!

wpid-wp-1442888714786.jpg

So there you have it folks! I am happy with this set even with the colors that I don’t fancy because I got to try 8 colors for a very reasonable and exciting price!

In order as shown on the box

In order as shown on the box

If I buy a full size I am thinking that Halo and Bachelorette would be coming home with me as those two colors are just too fabulous for words! I would love the full sized color more if it didn’t have that gritty feeling but out of the entire set only three doesn’t look good on me, NaYeon, Coven, and Noble so that’s a win for me!

Kudos

Have A Fabulous Day!!

$675 for WHAT??

As I am a lover of all things cosmetics, I love a good bargain and I may even splurge and get something a tad bit too expensive because I want to treat myself but while scanning through the online oz I mean, Sephora website I came across this:

Nail Polish

Nail Polish

The first thing that caught my eye was the price . . . $675.00 for a tiny studded jar of nail polish! Now folks hear me out . . . if you like luxury then by all means you go and buy you whatever your heart desires but if you chose to read further please don’t be offended by my words against items like so and your desire to buy them.

WHY I HATE THIS PRODUCT?

Have I tried it? No, it’s $675 for a nail polish, TF I look like!

Am I going to judge it without having tried it? DAMN SKIPPY

Let’s go over the basics. . .

How much does it cost to produce nail polish? We all know it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to create nail polish, hell you can make some in your kitchen. Having been in retail for over 15 years, If I had to guess (because there is no info online) I’d say that the cost price of nail polish – depending on brand – is anywhere from $0.50 to $5.00 per ounce. That’s just my guestimations, either way we know it’s not nearly as much as this bottle costs.

For more information and on how nail polish is made visit this website http://www.madehow.com/Volume-1/Nail-Polish.html

So the question is, is there ever a reason to justify buying a nail polish this expensive?

I’d say NO! I don’t care how rich a person is, buying this is just stupid and there is really no other answer for it in my book. There are NUMEROUS pairs of CL shoes that are cheaper than this polish so right there is your lack of justification. You are paying for a jar/tube/whatever that is¬†bedazzled with 1,500 hand-applied, two-tone Strass crystals and is displayed in a black box decorated with leather and crystal flowers – that’s what you are paying for strass crystals (which without google I have no idea what those are) and a leather box with crystal flowers.

Nail polish chips. . . . that’s just life; OPI, Essie, Revlon, CL, Marc Jacobs, all that ish chips because it’s made to be temporary so why would you pay for a temporary item like this?

I have a hard time believing that people are so gullible that they would spend $1000 (because math taught us to round after 5) on a tiny bottle of nail polish!! On Sephora’s website, women were commenting on how disappointed they were that it chipped? OH NO SHIT SHERLOCK, it chipped, nail polish chipped how absolutely unreal is that!

kanye-blank-stare

I found myself getting upset with this product because it’s beyond ridiculous, I guess to some they can say they are buying a piece of art but you can buy a really great piece of art with that amount of money that can be showcased in your home or office.

Maybe because I am¬†a paycheck to paycheck¬†living single mother that¬†I can’t understand the value in this product. . . .

flat,800x800,075,f_u3

NO. . .that’s¬†not it at all. . . . .

warning_stupid_sticker-r6a7d1b9d18c942cc9cda830536965cf7_v9waf_8byvr_512

SO, what do you guys think? Am I being a bitch and judging because I don’t like this product¬†– I can afford it and have money to spare with my paycheck to paycheck living arse, I just wouldn’t buy it and I would make my friends feel shitty if they ever bought it.

How far does obsession go? Is this obsession?

It is, after all JUST nail polish

I spent the amount of time in the store looking for mascara like I did looking for a toothbrush (my toothbrush selection time is a serious event that could take upwards of an hour) all because the wands are so different now, it was like trying to shop for shoes online; you can see them but you don’t know what they feel like until you get it home and determine if it’s a load of crap or not.

Remember when this was the only mascara you’d go to the store and get? What girl didn’t have this in their possession!! I know when I started wearing mascara this was the only brand I purchased: Maybelline Great Lash!!wpid-hbz-mascaras-maybelline-0312-xln1-e1361395658541.jpg

BUT NOW. . . . NOW YOU HAVE TO PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO IT!!

I used to own about two of them, maybe and now I own about 6 different types of mascara and can never just purchase one, I have to purchase two now because I’ll see a new wand that I want to try and think why not give it a go. Or now, it’s not just black, black-brown, and brown it’s about 3 different levels of blacks, a few more browns, colorful ones and so much more and the other day I went to clean my wands as I do once before I toss them and I was shocked to see how many I actually had. It’s taking me a while to purchase expensive mascaras because of their shelf life but I have been taking advantage of Sephora’s mini items and have a few.

I must say that I use a different one for different looks which I never thought mattered until different wands showed me that it does matter. SO let’s go over the different types of wands there are on the market, or a few of them. Thanks to the Beauty Snoop.com I didn’t have to create the names on the brushes (SCORE!!)

OVERSIZED: These are not my favorite especially since I have very small and curved lashes, a brush like this gets product every where or doesn’t get enough on my eyes because it doesn’t go with the curve of my lashes so when they say MAXIMUM VOLUME they must mean for longer lashes.

CONE TAPER: This is the newest purchase of mine and I must say that as I thought I’d like the cone shape to get the tiny lashes in the corners of my eyes, this is not a great one for that. I actually do not like it because for my type of lashes I don’t get full coverage cause of the cone so I guess it’s good for winged outer but what about the middle? DUH!!

CURVED: This one is okay for my lashes and in general, the curve isn’t too much and it actually gets to the middle of my curvy lashes, it curls right on with me.

BALLED TIP: I didn’t like this at first (it’s on how the benefit wand is) but it’s fabulous for getting the corners of the eyes, like it says! The flaw is that the ball tip can pick up more mascara than wanted and you will have to maneuver it to make sure you don’t get spider eyes but I’ve mastered it and you will too!

MICRO WAND: Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways!! Having tiny curly lashes can be a pain, especially when your bottom lashes are almost stuck to your face and that’s where this beauty comes into play. I used it as an all around wand for top and bottom especially on the days that I want a really light look.

RUBBER SHORT: I’ve used this kind and all I have to say is “HUH?” who made this one, it’s so odd and there really isn’t another word for it. No matter what, it picks up more mascara than needed and then you end up looking whore-ish or like spiders and that’s no good.

FLAT COMB: This does what the rubber short tried to do but yet again it’s straightness is what makes it an unusual wand to use for every day.

These are just a few of the wands on the market! How has mascara shopping for you been?

wpid-images.jpgwpid-images-1.jpg.jpegWhy would they give us so many options? DO they know how meticulous we can be with makeup? Are they trying to punish us? It’s becoming a bit upsetting to just stop in and pick up a darn mascara!

Then there are colorful mascaras – which I love! A blue mascara is like the perfect medium light roast, with steamed soy, shot of caramel, extra hot, and extra shot caribou cup of magic and it’s so fucking fierce!!

wpid-blue-mascara-2.jpgI haven’t tried a red mascara yet but or the orange but it’s on my list. Purple, well the one that I have is very light and it gives a really weird effect that I like my eyes look bigger and brighter but I dislike the wand (it’s very flimsy):¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†wpid-img_20150827_105611.jpgI do like the Benefit cosmetics sort of balled tip wand, It’s the one that get’s those corners like no other! I said I would never purchase $20 mascara but this is definitely worth it.wpid-img_20150827_105726.jpg

The coned wand is one that I just cannot get adjusted to but it was a great price of $6.97 at Wal-Mart!

wpid-img_20150827_105222.jpgIf you’ve tried this one let me know what you think about this particular wand. I think maybe if it was longer then it could get the entire lash without having to get the tip then double back for the middle making it clump up more. I really wanna know who was behind the making of this particular design and if they truly thought over how this would work as a fully functional mascara. I understand mascara for different effects but if it can’t give the effect entirely, what made them think we’d want to use two different mascaras on one eye? That’s ridiculous as Starbucks NEVER making my coffee with steamed soy the right way¬†and always doing half steamed soy and half coffee (GROSS folks!) then looking at me like I fucked up ordering when they fucked up listening!

My new favorite other than the Benefit one is another Maybelline that’s a recent purchase. This really is a fully functional wand that does the job without fail, the amount of mascara that gets on the wand is just like that perfect porridge for that golden locked child.wpid-img_20150827_105315.jpg

But nevertheless, there are far TOO many wands on the market! That sentence alone would go good in a Harry Potter book but sadly it’s reality. They are over saturating us with wands and it’s not even Halloween! All I know is I’d love for them to give us back just a few options and not thousands!! Prime example is the picture below, that’s all Clinique like seriously – there are many things that make it difficult for a woman to get dressed but mascara should never be one of them! I think mascara wands CAN matter but they don’t have to, not to this extent!
