The Eyeshadow Tag!

Saw this on Vanessa’s page https://sayhellotogorgeous.wordpress.com  and since I am avoiding doing actual work like it’s a plague, I am going to do this instead.

HOW MANY EYESHADOW PALETTES (AND QUADS AND SINGLES) DO YOU OWN?
I own Too Faced Chocolate palette, Black Radiance, Sigma Beauty Flare, Smashbox and some random ones.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF EYE SHADOW. MATTE OR SHINY?
Matte. It’s perfect on my dark skin tone. Shiny colors never show up unless it’s gold or in the gold family.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU CLEAN YOUR EYE SHADOW PALETTES?
I don’t clean them like I do my brushes but I will wipe them off with a clean napkin if colors get mixed. Being that I am the only one to use my eye shadow and keep my brushes clean, I am not picky on the palettes.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BRAND OF EYESHADOW AND WHY (WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL)?
I don’t really have a favorite. I wear the same neutral colors. The one I have repurchased was the Black Radiance one. It’s small, pigmented and purty. Of all my palettes, I love my Meet Matte The Balm single shade in a grey black. It’s amazing.

WHERE DO YOU BUY MOST OF YOUR EYESHADOW PALETTES?
Sephora mostly.

WHATS YOUR CUT OFF PRICE WHEN BUYING EYE SHADOW PALETTES?
$40 and that’s pushing it. All this $50+ for a palette is REEDAMNDICULOUS!! Especially when I have many palettes to choose from. The Smashbox I own was a gift, and the chocolate palette was from returning two gifts.

WHAT KIND OF PRIMER, IF ANY, DO YOU USE UNDER YOUR EYE SHADOW APPLICATION?
Sigma Beauty and NYX. NYX is creamier than sigma which is very matte in it’s finish but both are great.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BRUSH/TOOL TO USE TO APPLY YOUR EYE SHADOW?
I use a standard flat eye shadow brush, nothing special. I’ll use the brushes that come with the palette or my standard brushes ranging from elf to sigma to random.

Why the hell do I own Yellow Lipstick. . .

And where do I plan on wearing it to?

I haven’t really figured out why I own Yellow lipstick. Did I buy it out of FadDom (My word, I created it..back off 😄) from all of these instagram make up artists playing around with it or did I really want this color…. Well because I couldn’t figure it out my reasons for purchasing this awful color in a Chicago beautystore during a visit to see family,  I decided to play around with this Yellow lipstick to see if it really does belong in my collection….

The results were a fun 25mins……

Take a peek……

The expirement began with realizing that I will never wear Yellow lipstick alone so I decided instead to pair it with other colors, from the same brand that I bought the same day because I have no reason why I own them either.

I began with yellow and orange. This brand of lipstick is by Nicka K sold at beauty stores and online at www. Nickakcosmetics.com and I own some of her more subtle lipsticks and lip pencils (my favs) …these cost $2.99 a pop.

Pros: Very moisturizing, no smell, easy and smooth application, very pigmented except for this Yellow 😐

The photo above show the “before rubbing lips together” and  then after

I rubbed them together and I actually liked the outcome. Not bad considering this was the last combination I tried.

Next was….

Grey and Yellow and as you can see is an instant “Ewwww 😨” I was so dead set on grey lipstick (like I really went and sought out grey for some odd reason, maybe FadDom) and this color was not a go and definitely not a go with the yellow that I thought I needed. *Side Eyeing my damn self*

This combination was atrocious, hedious, grotesque… Just Nah Son!!!

It was worse when mixed/rubbed together…. I really did Laugh out Loud!!

And for the final combination…..

I decided to do the teal on the outside since I already tried yellow on the outside twice

This turned out to be….PUKISH!!

Not a good look… Its infant shit green and really unpleasant. I thought about switching it around but didn’t want to bother with wiping my lips off again and reapplying when I know it’s still going to be infant shit green.

However…..

I’ve worn the teal out before and find it to be a beautiful dark and rich color. Smooth and playful. It’s the one color out of this bunch that I actually like and have worn multiple times.

VERDICT:

I now know that buying the Yellow lipstick was an impulse buy mixed with FadDom and so it took a little trip – along with the orange and grey – to the little place underneath the cabinet I like to call “Where Make Up Goes To Die” it’s my forgettable pile that friends who know I’m obsessed with makeup go to find something for them and if it isn’t picked during the next scavenger hunt then it’s tossed into real trash land where it really will die. Boo hoo, $9 bucks wasted that would have been a delicious Starbucks run or a few bucks shy of Sephora brand cream lipstick… #lessonlearned

All LIPSTICK Lovers MUST Have This!!!

I have been on a LONG quest to find a way to store my ever-growing collection of lipstick and I kept saying to myself, “When will someone create something extremely useful and minimizing dammit?!”

AND VOILA!! They have and it’s awesome and below these words, because I am trying to build up suspense, I will post the picture of this awesome MUST HAVE for all of my lipstick lovers.

Are you ready to see it?

Show of hands? (Yes, raise them please)

Ok. . . .Here it is. . .

Isn't it Gorgeous!!

Isn’t it Gorgeous!!

So let me tell you about this Beauty. . .it was made by (from my research) Zahra Beauty (www.zahrabeautystore.com) now whether or not they invented it first I don’t know and kind of don’t care, It’s here and that’s all that matters.

It’s called “Spinning Lipstick Tower” and if you google it you will find a good number of “online boutiques” (yes I quoted that and some of you know why) who sell these with their “business names” imprinted on the top in the middle (You can kind of see Zahra’s name in the middle).

The Price: $99 (free shipping from Zahra) Amazon has it $129, another site has it for $139, eBay $129, and etc. I chose Zahra because I saw it there first and like the sleek minimal name on the top and because I just got a good vibe from them. One chick had it on sale for $79 but my bank account wasn’t prepared for that at that time. I decided I wanted to see what my options were by getting it from China directly where it’s made and although the cost price was $40 for one (more if I bought bulk) the shipping was $52 so blah, not worth the 26 day wait.

You will also find by googling that title a few variations (especially from China on alixpress or alibaba) that can hold lipstick and powders and brushes and still spin like this one below:

Spinning Lipstick Tower that holds 70+ lipsticks/glosses and brushes on the side and compacts beneath

As I liked this one, I only found it in China and I am too impatient to wait 26 days.

Mine arrived from Zahra faster than expected (I think about 3 days) and you don’t have to assemble anything just open it up and  go!!

Then there is another one that fits more lipsticks like this one:

As you can see it's 4 rows per section versus the 3 on mine.

As you can see it’s 4 rows per section versus the 3 on mine.

It spins: I tried to upload a video but couldn’t grrr but yes it spins and a full 360, round and round and round like a pretty ballerina.

COLORS: Zahra has silver, black, white (with bling – I chose no bling), pink, red and maybe teal or else I seen teal elsewhere.

Can it fit lip gloss? Well yes and no, the slots are just the right size for lipstick as you can see but you can put lip gloss on top but Zahra has one that holds lip gloss. . .YEP (saweeet) but it’s about $130. I put a few liquid lippies in there and this is what it looks like:

Liquids Lipsticks on the bottom

Liquids Lipsticks on the bottom

How Many Lipsticks Does It Hold: 81 YAS 81 awesome lipsticks……..How great is that right?!

Can it Fit ALL kinds of lipstick: The top cannot fit big square ones (well because the holes are circular 😐) like Smashbox but the bottom can fit various kinds and I have a few big ones.

Can it Stain: It’s plastic so most likely but not something that will happen ya know.

Is it Heavy: It kind of is – it’s 6lbs in the box and stuffing and all for shipping but maybe 3lbs empty. It’s not too bad but you def want it where it’s going to stay just so you don’t have to keep moving it although it you have to, It wouldn’t be a problem.

FLAWS: This has one flaw I found which thanks to my research before buying I watched a YouTube video of a woman fixing this flaw. In the photo below I have highlighted this flaw which is smaller lipsticks like Smashbox are too short and will fall back in the slanted slot further than you would like or can easily grasp and pull out so to stop that from happening,

You can see that the bubble wrap helps the smaller lipsticks join the party

You can see that the bubble wrap helps the smaller lipsticks join the party

I took the bubble wrap that came in the package and cut a few pieces and stuck them behind them and problem solved and it’s not something that can be easily seen.

Another thing is DO NOT put lipsticks with sizes like Smashbox in the last/bottom slots because there is a kind of dip (you can see what I’m talking about at the bottom) like a pocket that it goes into and that is extremely hard to get out (trust me – I had to remove all the lipstick and tip it and have my son grab the tube out) so I added bubble wrap.

OVERALL: I am happy with this purchase and I will buy the lip gloss one when I need it and or maybe another one of these. This is the best $99 I’ve spent towards organizing my make-up that is so worth it.

Let me know what you ladies use to store your lipsticks in and if you have this beauty how do you like it?

P.S. There is even one for storing nail polish. . . . .
